Hurricane Ophelia

Monday 16/10/2017 we had the visit of a storm swell caused by Hurricane Ophelia, which along with the strong winds of Levante caused perfect conditions to remember for many years.

From early morning, the series of waves were drawing more and more in size and majesty.

Our first session was in Tarifa, with waves of a meter and a half, which sometimes reached two meters. The wind was very gusty but enough to give us the opportunity to surf the waves that Ophelia offered us.

Good session to warm up the engines for what we had prepared by Ophelia for later.

Our next tide point, seeing that the swell was increasing in size and strength, we decided to look at the Bunker. As soon as we parked, we were astounded by the quality and size of the waves. Nervous anxious and as like the world was going to end after that session. We went into the water with great sensations. Certainly one of the best surfkite days was under our boards. The waves were breaking in long lefts with wind sideoff that allowed us to surf with total freedom. Bottom turn, to the lip and to flow in dream waves.

Our faces spoke for themselves, knowing that the day has just a few more hours remaining, we should hurry to surf another wave, another turn, another wall. Another of the days that all of us who were fortunate to live it will not forget. The afternoon fell and we resisted getting out of the water. After nine hours enjoying, muscles fatigued, but the heart kept asking for a while longer, one more wave. Once with the kite parked on the sand, the look follows the horizon of an ocean that today showed us its strength, its majesty, waves that have traveled hundreds, kilometers and that arrived at the coasts full of energy, natural beauty, surfers, windsurferos, kitesurferos, people who lived something special that day.
